Silas S. Flagg was a guide, mentioned in a newspaper article (see Fishing) as working in 1888. He was also an early Saranac Lake landowner, as evidenced by a legal description on the wiki page Thomas Dewey, which cites property in Township 24, Great Tract 1, Macomb's Purchase as a point "in the center of the valley where the old winter road leads to Lonesome Pond near Silas S. Flagg's clearing." He is buried in the [Cemetery], Lewis, Essex County, NY.
