Uriah Sumner

Uriah Sumner is said to be the first settler in the town of Franklin.  It appears that he may have first set up a forge at McLenathan Falls and later started a second forge and mill in Bloomingdale on the brook which bears his name.  Sources are conflicting, however.

"About the time of the first settlement at McLenathan Falls, [c. 1827] a forge was erected by [Sumner] on township No. 9 of the old military tract. This enterprise was also abandoned." See Franklin for the full article.  But see also this link
