Address: New York Route 86, Ray Brook
Other names: The Pine Cone, serving ice cream in 2018
Year built:
Other information: This was a bakery run by the Yanchitises. It was previously associated with the Half Way Motel. Before Borne and Bread, it had been a garage, and afterward, briefly, an ice cream stand, as it is again in 2018.
From the Lake Placid-North Elba Historic Preservation Commission survey, September 30, 1991, Ray Brook Auto Tourist Accommodations section: Borne and Bread is a bake shop housed in a two-bay service station with a bracketed, shallow hipped roof. A large elaborate bracket supports a hanging arrow sign at the center front, above and between the two small bays.
