The  Bloomingdale-Gabriels Road, previously known as the Toof Marsh

Road, runs east across the Bloomingdale Bog from Gabriels 3.5 miles to New York Route 3.  Before 1935 it was the site of the Bloomingdale Station, about two miles west of Bloomingdale.  It is currently designated Franklin County Route 55.

Malone Farmer, September 23, 1914

Supervisor Riley, of Gabriels, chairman of the county highway commission, is working hard to secure the letting this fall of the "Toof Marsh Road" in Brighton and Franklin, which would connect the state and county highway at Bloomingdale with the county road at Gabriels. This road ought to be improved at once as everybody knows who has had occasion to drive a car from Malone to Bloomingdale. In wet weather this connecting road is heavy with mud and an automobile skids badly upon it. In dry weather it is heavy with sand and deep ruts, for there is a large amount of teaming over it. The road is in order for early construction by the state and is necessary now to complete the system of roads in the south end of this county.
