Luther S. Bryant was a farmer, and a Civil War veteran. He was a son of Samuel Bryant Jr.  He is buried in the Union Cemetery in Vermontville.

He brought Miss Betty Burns to Vermontville after the civil war, probably from Virginia.

He enlisted as sergeant in the 118th Regiment, Company C (same as Thomas Norman) in 1862. He was promoted to lieutenant in 1863 at "Camp Adirondack" near Finlay hospital near Washington DC.
