Edward Stanwood Billings was a World War I veteran; he was diagnosed with TB after his service. He was a veteran of the N Y 2nd USNRF. He came to Saranac Lake to cure, staying in two different cure cottages. He met and married Sarah Cameron Billings. She was born in 1898 and graduated from Wellesley College. After his cure, they settled at 32 Old Military Road. Edward worked at Ayres Insurance. They had a son with the same name, Edward S. "Ted" Billings, and a daughter, Jane Billings Webb. Edward and Sarah are buried in Pine Ridge Cemetery. Their daughter Jane and her husband Walter Webb are also buried there.
