William Goodspeed was a Civil War veteran.  He was a son of Nathaniel and Polly Goodspeed.

...The third grave is that of William Goodspeed, a grandson of Elias, who was a cavalryman in Company D., second New York Cavalry, and who died in 1804, when twenty-two years old. A brother of William, also named Elias, is still alive, and he, too, was a soldier of the civil war.
