Pfc. Slater Killed
Pfc. Gilbert Verne Slater, 19, was killed in action in Italy April 29. His wife, Mrs. Margaret Rock Slater, was informed Monday.
Slater was the father of a 9 months-old baby, whom he had never seen. He enlisted in February, 1944, and August 22 he landed in Italy and went almost immediately into action. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Slater of Saranac Lake and was born there August 22, 1926.
