Josephine Garretson contracted tuberculosis and was sent to Saranac Lake in 1911 to cure with Dr. Edward Livingston Trudeau. Her sister Helen apparently accompanied her or came to visit, where she met Francis B. Trudeau, youngest son of the famous doctor, whom she married in 1914.
