Maude Kirk, a nurse and housewife, came to Saranac Lake from Malone in 1932. She was married to Fred S. Kirk but was widowed before she came to cure for 11 months. She stayed at 45 Shepard Avenue, and died of TB at the age of 34. Her only son, Fred, was four years old at the time of her passing.

A brick at the Saranac Laboratory Museum has been dedicated in memory of Maude Kirk by her granddaughter, Lynn Kirk Cole.
