Henry L. Hotchkiss of New Haven, Connecticut, built Camp Pot Luck on Upper St. Regis Lake. He first leased the property on September 11, 1886, His deed was dated December 31, 1889. ('Camp Chronicles, page 18.)

Hotchkiss was president of the St. Regis Yacht Club, with whom he is pictured about 1903 in 'Camp Chronicles, page 56.

He was president of the then-world's third largest rubber company, [Candee and Company], predecessor of U.S. Rubber.
