William G. Rockefeller

William Goodsell Rockefeller was the third child of Standard Oil co-founder William A. Rockefeller, Jr., the brother of John D. Rockefeller, and the grandson of William A. Rockefeller, Sr. He married Sarah Elizabeth Stillman, a daughter of National City Bank president James Stillman. The marriage aided his father's alliance, as a large shareholder of the National City Bank (which became Citibank), with the Stillman family. Rockefeller's brother, Percy Avery Rockefeller, also married a Stillman daughter, Isabel Goodrich Stillman.
Although he enjoyed the family estate at Bay Pond, he never owned it. He died six months after his father's death, and the estate was sold by the trustees.
