Malone Farmer, November 4, 1903

Earl Derby, a well-known resident of the Adirondacks, died suddenly last week Monday night. He woke up suffering severely and aroused his wife, saying that something must be done for him. Then he immediately expired. Mr. Derby was a "hail fellow well met" and his circle of acquaintances was wide. He resided about two miles out of Bloomingdale. For a number of years he had been superintendent of Isaac N. Seligman's property on the Upper Saranac and was counted a very valuable man by the New York banker. John Derby, whose friends are many in Malone and throughout Northern New York, is a son of the deceased.
