(Posted July 5, 2010) The Village of Saranac Lake has announced a Walk of Fame as a new initiative: to recognize residents or former residents who have distinguished themselves positively, on a national or international level in the arts, sciences, entertainment, sports, commerce, philanthropy or government, bringing honor to themselves and, by their residency in Saranac Lake, to our community. ("Residency" is defined by a reasonable tenure within the Saranac Lake Central School District and should not be interpreted as a brief stay in a summer home for example.) Non-residents who have directly and significantly contributed to Saranac Lake, and who meet the foregoing criteria, may also be considered.

A citizens committee has been appointed to recommend names to the Village Board. The committee is soliciting a diverse list of suggested honorees from the public.
