Hugo Franz, Sr., was a photographer who assisted William Kollecker in his Kodak photography studio, handling some of his photo assignments.

SARANAC LAKE — Sergeant Richard R. Franz, son of Hugo R. Franz of 18 Lake street, this village, who has been stationed with the 11th Engineers in the Panama Canal Zone for the past three and one-half years, has left the army to become a member of the Panama Canal police force. A graduate of Saranac Lake High school in 1936, he now holds a commission as a second lieutenant in the army infantry reserve.
