Mrs. Cornelia Durgan

Mrs. Cornelia Durgan , a resident of this area for 40 years died Saturday morning at St. Mary's Nursing Home where she had been a patient for three weeks, Mrs. Durgan and her husband, Claude C. Durgan who died in 1933, operated a grocery store in Saranac Lake for many years.

Mrs. Durgan was born in Brooklyn on August 18, 1882, a daughter of William K. and Martha McNeil Remsen.

Survivors are a daughter Mrs. Ross C. Freeman of Coreys with whom Mrs. Durgan had been living for the past three years; a son, Richard R. of Lake Clear; three grandchildren, Mrs. Gary O'Dell of North Norwich, N.Y., Claude C. Freeman of Syracuse and Harry R. Freeman of Coreys; and one great-grandchild. In addition she leaves a nephew, Thomas C. Remsen of Hudson Falls and a niece, Mrs. Albert Pope, Jr. of Middlebury, Conn.

A funeral service was held this afternoon at the Fortune Funeral Home. Interment was in Harrietstown Cemetery. Pallbearers were Marion Jaquis, George Carley, Jr., Gene Freeman and Ted Peets.
