Robert H. Staples

Robert H. Staples. 46, of 11 Olive St., Saranac Lake, died Friday evening at Saranac Lake Hospital. He was a bus driver employed by the Saranac Lake Central Schools.

Mr. Staples was born in Atlanta, Ga., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Haskell Staples. He came to Saranac Lake 13 years ago for his health. Previously he was a musician and had played the spoons for several leading bands including Buddy Rogers, Tommy Dorsey, Lawrence Welk, and Paul Whiteman.

His wife, Edith Cassavaugh Staples, whom he married in Saranac Lake on March 18, 1960, survives.

The funeral was held this afternoon at the Fortune Funeral Home with the Rev. Eric King, pastor of the Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.
