John Blanchard

John Blanchard, 72 died suddenly at 6 p.m. Monday at his home, 122 River Street, Saranac Lake. He had lived there, with his sister, Mrs. Kay VanYserloo, for 27 years.

Mr. Blanchard was born Jan. 5, 1895 in Paul Smiths, a son of Frank and Sarah Sawyer Blanchard. He had served in the U.S. Army in World War I.

Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. VanYserloo, Mrs. Lena McCatchie of Saranac Lake and Mrs. Amber Reed of Detroit, Mich.; a brother, Frank of Paul Smiths; and nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home where a Veterans Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and a Rosary Service at 8 o'clock. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Gabriel's Church [sic] in Paul Smiths with interment following in St. Johns-in-the-Wilderness Cemetery.
