Marie Louise Bonnet Dubos, a Frenchwoman who taught French in New York and was a gifted pianist, was the first wife of Rene J. Dubos. In 1939 she became a patient at Ray Brook Sanatorium, where she spent three years. Every weekend, her husband traveled north to be with her. In the winter of 1942 she returned home. She died of tuberculosis in the New York Hospital on April 23, 1942.
