Berton John Sweeney, known as Jack, graduated from Saranac Lake High School in 1949. He was a Korean War veteran of the US Navy. Along with Doug Bombard and other friends, Jack was instrumental in creating the original T-bar at Mt. Pisgah.  He worked at Newman & Holmes for nine years, and at Bouyea Baking Company for 27 years, retiring in 1991.  He was a member of the Saranac Lake Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 16, at St. Bernard's church. Burial will follow at St. Bernard's Cemetery in Saranac Lake. An obituary appeared in the Adirondack Daily Enterprise on [4, 2018], and again on June 12, 2018.
