Some one has said that ped. mania was dead. But this we deny, it having lately broken out at the Adirondack Club with great violence. Two tracks have already been laid out, one of ten and the other of twenty-six laps to the mile; the former being located near the St. Armand and the latter adjacent to the mill. Every evening our local pedestros exhibit their speed and endurance to large and admiring crowds. Mr. E. W. TOOF, the Bloomingdale champion, bids fair to become world-renowned, he having already covered his mile in something over seven minutes, square heel and toe. Mr. TOOF feels positive of his ability, by the aid of training and practice, to reduce his time by at least a minute.— There is something truly sublime in the champion's stride and the manner in which plants his number X.'s in the saw dust, and we think the day is not far distant when we shall with confidence challenge the world.

During the heavy wind and thunder storm of last week a cow belonging to Mr. W. S. HOUGH was killed by lightning. She was standing in Mr. MCINTYRE'S back door yard, chewing her cud and ruminating when the electric current struck her in the head and checked the current of her meditations--this last is the current report. Mr. E. W. TOOF was immediately sent for did all in his power for the poor animal, which was to skin her.
