Elmendorf Brown was born in Bloomingdale, a son of Allen and Edith Sanders Brown, and a brother of Harry H. Brown and Mrs. William Stephenson.
He ran a carpenter shop at Stony Wold Sanitarium on Lake Kushqua on the north end of the village, where he made everything for the repair and maintenance of the main buildings and also for the cottages. See Carl Jacobs recollections of living at Stony Wold.

Elmendorf Brown, brother of Mrs. William Stephenson, died in Summerdale N.J. where he had been living with his daughter. He had been ill a long time and this leaves Daisy the only one left of 12 children. Co-incidentally, her husband is the only one living of 13 brothers and sisters. Our condolences to them at this time. Mr. Brown's funeral will be at the Walker Funeral Home in Plattsburgh, and burial will be in Cadyville where he made his home for many years.
