SARANAC LAKE - Ernest Pickreign, 90, formerly of Harrietstown in Saranac Lake, died Tuesday morning at Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone.
Born June 21, 1887 in Wisconsin, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Pickreign. His wife, the former Mabel Lashway, died Dec. 9, 1970.
He was a resident of the Saranac Lake area for over 40 years. He had been a farmer and caretaker for several private camps in the area.
He is survived by seven sons, Ernest and John of Springfield Mass., David, Maynard and Gordon of Syracuse; Joseph of Saranac Lake, and Leon of Malone. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Yell of Malone, as well as 35 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. and between 7 and 9 p.m. today. Funeral services are to be said Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Fortune Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eric King, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment is to be in Harrietstown Cemetery in May.
