SARANAC LAKE - Harald Charles Hurley, 86, of Lake Clear, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 1987, at the General Hospital of Saranac Lake.

He was born in Winooski, Vt. on. Jan. 14, 1901, the son of Dennis and Mary (Gribbon) Hurley.

He grew up and attended schools in north Lawrence, N.J.  He moved to the Saranac Inn in 1920 and was employed there until he went to work for the New York State Department of Conservation in 1929. He was employed in the fishery management at the Saranac Inn Hatchery for 36 years, retiring in 1966.

Mr. Hurley was a life member of Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge 1508, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 599, Third Degree. He was also a Eucharistic Minister at Clear. He was a former trustee at St. John's Church and a former member of the Harrietstown Housing Authority Board.

His wife, Grace (Sullivan) Hurley of Winthrop, N.Y. died in 1919. She had one son, Harald Sullivan Hurley, who died in 1970. He married Virginia McCaffery in 1925, and she died in 1971.

He is survived by his third wife, Marianne (Hicks) Donnely, whom he married in 1973. He is also survived by four step-sons, H. Peter Donnely and Martin F. Donnely, both of Saranac Lake, Patrick J. Donnely of Tupper Lake and John J. Donnely of Rochester; two step-daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Mary Elizabeth) Black of Tupper Lake and Mrs. John (Margaraet A.) De Forest of Rockport. Another step-daughter, Ellen S. Donnely, died in 1973. He is also survived by one grandson, one granddaughter, one great-grandson and 11 step-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. "Monday. An Elks service is scheduled for 8 p.m. Monday. A Bible vigil service with the Knights of Columbus is tentatively scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Monday.

Funeral services are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church in Lake Clear. The celebrant will be the Rev. Thomas Moody, pastor of St. John's Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Lake Clear. Friends wishing may make donations to the Saranac Lake Rescue Squad in care of Keough and Son Funeral Home in Saranac Lake.
