From Historic Saranac Lake Wiki

Born: 1828

Died: February 14, 1895

Married: Caroline Herriman, September 17, 1863

Henry D. Polhemus was "a big, warm-hearted sportsman whom I had met at Paul Smith's," wrote Dr. E. L. Trudeau. Polhemus became his friend, an early benefactor and one of the incorporators of the Adirondack Cottage Sanitarium. He sponsored the Polhemus, or Pine, Cottage at the sanitarium and later gave two of the platform tents from his hunting camp as auxiliary housing for patients there. He was an uncle of Rebecca Augusta Polhemus, who owned a camp on Spitfire Lake for many years.
