Jean Baker Noel

Jean Baker Noel, 86, passed away April 29, 2011, at her home with her family at her side. She was born in Saranac Lake, N.Y., on March 20, 1925, to the late Homer and Elizabeth (Mahar) Baker. She married Robert Noel of Lyon Mountain, N.Y., in 1947. Jean graduated from Plattsburgh State Teachers College in 1947. Jean loved teaching and was a dedicated kindergarten teacher for 35 years at Northern Adirondack Central School. Jean made her home and raised her family in Ellenburg Depot. She was an accomplished piano player, an avid storyteller and a devout Catholic. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and CD of A Court Little Rose 1300, as well as former District Deputy.

Jean was predeceased by her husband, Robert Noel (1967); sons, Robert Noel Jr. (1994) and Frank X. Noel (2005); and three siblings.. Survivors include three daughters, Marie Noel, Susan and Sanford Coakley and Nancy Noel; ten grandchildren, Cindy Jolly, Tammy Dmuchoski, Sean Wilson, Matthew, Jeane, Joseph, Mary and Marcia Coakley, Jasmine Yaza and Noella Nance; and six great-grandchildren; as well as her sister, Peg Martin. Calling hours will be 2:30 to 4 p.m. at Ross Funeral Home. A service will follow at St. Edmunds Church in Ellenburg.. Donations given in her memory will be presented to NAC's music program and Sarah Munsel Library of Ellenburg.. Arrangements are in the care of the Ross Funeral Home, 5059 Rt. 11, Ellenburg Depot.
