Katherine E. Sawyer, age 82, of 147 Lake St., Saranac Lake, died Monday, Sept. 20, 2010 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Vt.
Born in Saranac Lake on Oct. 19, 1927, she was the daughter of Plymon and Julia (Mousaw) Muncil. Katherine married Robert Sawyer on May 29, 1958 in Saranac Lake.
Mrs. Sawyer had been a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake and had owned and operated a day care center for many years. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest joy.
She is survived by her husband Robert; three children: Cynthia Goodrich of Raleigh, N.C., Anthony Brooks of Lake Clear, and Tammy Bova of Saranac Lake; two stepdaughters: Donna Darrah of AuSable Forks and Terri Krutz of Malone; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Muncil of Saranac Lake.
She was predeceased by her father; mother; one brother Raymond Muncil; two sisters Salina Gallo and Florence Mulligan; and three grandchildren.
Calling hours will take place at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home on Friday, September 24, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24, 2010 at the Fortune-Keough Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mark Reilly officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Ridge Cemetery.

The marriage is announced of Catherine Brooks, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Plymon Muncil, and Robert Sawyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo E. Sawyer of 8 St. Lawrence St.
Their attendants were Mrs. Helen Muncil, sister-in-law of the bride, and G. Richard Sawyer, brother of the groom.
A reception followed at the bride’s home. Hostesses for the reception were Mrs. Salina Gallo of Lake Placid, Mrs. Florence Mulligan of Saranac Lake, sisters of the bride, and Mrs. Mary Phillips.
