Lake Flower Avenue

Lake Flower Avenue starts at its intersection with River Street near Pontiac Bay on Lake Flower, and travels south along the lake; it is part of New York Route 86. Lake Flower Avenue was previously known as Rat Street "on account of the many muskrat trapped along the banks of the river," Robert E. Smith wrote in 1947 in his memoir 82 Years in Saranac Lake, and quoted by his family member James Richards in The Reverend Samuel Smith and Family, 1804-2006, published in 2012.
