MRS. COOPER, 78, DIES SUDDENLY

Mrs. Joseph Cooper, of Paul Smiths, suffered a heart attack and died suddenly Saturday afternoon while visiting her husband, who is confined to St. Margaret's Nursing Home, Gabriels.

Her body will repose at the Fortune Funeral Home where services will be held tomorrow at 2 p. m. with Rev. Ernest B. Mounsey officiating. Burial will be in St. John's in the Wilderness cemetery Paul Smith's.

Mrs. Cooper was born on June 6, 1877 in West Orange, N. J., a daughter of Gedion and Kate B. Lee. She attended private school at East Orange. N J., and studied for a year in Paris. On Sept. 10, 1910 she was married to Joseph M. Cooper at Mt. Vernon.

The couple had resided at Paul Smiths permanently since 1932 but had spent their summers in this area since 1926.  Mrs. Cooper's father was one of the first permanent campers in the Adirondacks, having a camp on Osgood Lake.  He was also one of the first permanent campers at Paul Smiths.  Mrs. Cooper's great grandfather was mayor of New York City in 1922.
