Quesnel's Animal Farm
Owned by Thomas Quesnel, the Quesnel Animal Farm was located just beyond the Robert Louis Steven Cottage.
It was Saranac Lake's "zoo". There were rabbit roaming freely around the property. People could pet and feed several deer.
There were many other animals plus an enclosed area with birds.

…In January 1968, a mountain lion that was being housed at Quesnel's animal farm in Saranac Lake died. The animal was a large male weighing 75 pounds or more. Mr. Richard Emperor picked up the animal, put it on the front fender of his DEC vehicle and drove all over Saranac Lake informing people that he had shot the animal and was on his way to see Frank Morrison for the reward. The big officials took Mr. Emperor to task for what he had done and quite possibly came close to losing his job…
Mt. lions are protected by law and are considered an endangered species in New York.
