Stone Pigs

Stone pig was the nickname given to large, ceramic hot water bottles, used by TB patients attempting the fresh air cure, which typically meant sleeping in bitterly cold weather on a cure porch wrapped in layers of blankets. The stone pig was a great comfort in such circumstances.
