'''Uriah Sumner''' is said to be the first settler in the town of [[Franklin|Franklin]].  It appears that he may have first set up a forge at [[McLenathan%20Falls|McLenathan Falls]] and later started a second forge and mill in Bloomingdale on the brook which bears his name.  Sources are conflicting, however.
