Helen M. Newmark Sandhaus was reportedly the youngest patient to cure at the Trudeau Sanatorium. Helen Newmark came at the age of 16 with her father, Aaron Newmark, who was also suffering from TB. In 1939, she met her husband, Dr. Harold "Sandy" Sandhaus, who worked as a physician under Dr. Francis Berger Trudeau.
A reader notes: "Helen was born in Brooklyn, New York and lived most her life in Hewlett, Long Island where she and Sandy raised their family. They lived many places while her husband, Sandy, was doing Internships around the U.S. (Cleveland, Houston, Saranac Lake to name a few.) Helen's sister is Marge Rothschild of Lake Success, New York and Saranac Lake, her mother was the late Ruth Elizabeth Newman of Rugby Road, Flatbush, Brooklyn, and Jamaica Estates)"
