Larry Gowett worked for Paul Smith's Electric Co. and Niagara Mohawk for 24 years.  He lived at 17 Charles Street with his mother, Mary Gowett, until her death in 1962, and until at least 1967.

Lawrence D.Gowett

SARANAC LAKE - Lawrence D. Gowett, 71, of 24 Duprey St. died Sunday evening at Saranac Lake General Hospital.

Mr. Gowett had been employed by the Paul Smith's Electric Co. and Niagara Mohawk for 24 years and retired in 1968. He was a member of the electrical workers' union.

He was born in Saranac Lake, a son of Peter and Mary McDougall Gowett.

Surviving are: his wife, Clara Haskins Gowett; a son, Lawrence Jr. of Gulf sport, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Maynard (Betty) Amell of West Pittsburgh and Mrs. Silver (Eleanor) Diliberto of Frankfort, N.Y.; a sister, Gladys Parshall of Cooperstown; 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Friends may call this evening and Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Fortune Funeral Home. The funeral will be at the funeral home at 2 p.m., Thursday with the Rev. Lester Loder conducting the service. Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May.
